Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons black tea leaves or 2 black tea bags
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, finely grated or crushed
- 2-3 teaspoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- 2 cardamom pods (optional)
- A small piece of cinnamon stick (optional)
Preparation Method
Boil Water: In a saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
Add Ginger and Spices: Once the water is boiling, add the grated or crushed ginger. If using, also add the cardamom pods and cinnamon stick. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
Add Tea Leaves: Add the black tea leaves or tea bags to the saucepan. Let it boil for another 2-3 minutes. If you prefer a stronger tea, you can let it steep a bit longer.
Add Milk and Sugar: Pour in the milk and add sugar. Stir well and bring the mixture to a gentle boil again. Let it simmer on low heat for 2-3 minutes, ensuring the milk doesn’t boil over.
Strain and Serve: Remove the saucepan from heat. Strain the tea into cups using a fine mesh strainer to remove the ginger, tea leaves, and spices.
